It is hard to believe that Raya just occurred and Ramadhan just left us. It is now the fifth of Syawal and alhamdulillah, my Aidilfitri went well 🙂 Took a lot of photos on the first day of Syawal and ate many delicious food to compensate every weight loss during Ramadhan XD
I was thankful that it was DAMN hard to get any sort of mobile coverage, let alone internet in my hometown. It was entertaining to see everyone hyped up to upload their ootds in Instagram which then turned to be quite hopeless since the internet connection was null. Not even 3G connection available. *cries a river*
I have seen many people trying to match in with those trendsetters and fashionistas on IG. Some were very taksub in looking at their best during Raya in which they spent thousands of ringgit for baju Raya or whatever it is. I do not mind if their salary is worth thousands of ringgit, but what if it is not? People nowadays are overspending on maany unnecessary things, and yet they complain about the price hike/downhill economy. My point here is that we all should not be so easily blinded by the celebs on Internet. They have their own life and so do you. Create your own definition of happiness. Btw, you won’t get any special treats by wearing the exact clothes as them but only instant satisfaction (this satisfaction thingy lasts for a day only, I promise you). That fashion hit would only last for a year and believe me, in 2016, another trend will set in and boom, your RM500 baju Raya you bought now won’t be as valuable.
I am not a financial analyst nor an economics student here to advise you on how to spend your money. I understand that your money is yours and you’ve earned it. But please, many unfortunate people out there are dying to live like us – being able to dress beautifully during Raya and spending quality times with family. Let’s not forget about them. Let’s be more grateful for everything we have/had until now. Most importantly, if you are beautiful on the inside, you are too on the outside. Excellent attitude and behaviour will always win over looks and prestige. Just believe in that :’)
“That which you give in usury for increase through the property of (other) people, will have no increase with Allah: but that which you give for charity, seeking the Countenance of Allah, (will increase); it is those who will get a recompense multiplied.” (Qur‘an, 30:39)
May God bless all of us.
